A New Way to
View Photos on a TV Screen
Aplus.net Press Release Summary:
The new TiVo enabled Web-a-Photo service is intended to provide
TiVo users with a more convenient way of viewing their photos
and sharing photos with family and friends. The service enables
users to view their photos on a television screen without the
hassle of digital camera equipment. This means that the user has
access to his/her photos at all times and the ability to display
them on a large screen anywhere with a TiVo connection.
Furthermore, the service is excellent for large gatherings,
since a PC screen is too confining as a photo viewing source.

Leica C-Lux 1 News Release
Excerpt:
Another feature contributing to successful photography is the
integrated image stabilizer (O.I.S) which can be switched on
either for the photograph only or for both the photograph and
the display image. The image stabilization feature effectively
prevents blurred photos whatever the photographic situation by
consistently compensating for small hand movements. This and the
high-sensitivity mode with up to ISO 1600 ensure that pictures
are always sharply defined — whether in twilight, indoors or in
the zoom range.

Canon EOS
30D Review Posted by DPreview
DPreview wrote a review of the
Canon EOS 30D
and said: "We have to consider every camera as a whole, the sum
of its parts. Compare it to the competition and it's clear that the
30D really can hold its own. The primary competition coming from
Nikon's excellent D200, a camera which in many ways betters the EOS
30D, user interface, features and flexibility are all a step up."

Canon EOS 5D Review at Imaging Resource
Imaging Resource
posted a review of the
Canon EOS 5D
and said: "The EOS 5D's images show really excellent definition
in the fine details. Some edge enhancement is visible along sharp,
strongly contrasting images, but it's relatively innocuous, is
largely invisible and doesn't seem to lead to loss of significant
detail. (Edge enhancement creates the illusion of sharpness by
enhancing colors and tones right at the edge of a rapid transition
in color or tone.)"

Nikon Coolpix L3 Review by Steve's Digicams
Steve's Digicams wrote a review of the
Nikon Coolpix L3
and said: "The overall image quality of its 5-megapixel Fine mode
was very good. Our outdoor samples were sharp, well exposed and had
pleasing color saturation. The exposure system did a great job of
capturing sky detail, which will make your outdoor landscape shots
look awesome. Like we saw on the L1 from last year, ISO sensitivity
is fully automatic; there's no manual adjustment available. I saw
very little noise when the camera was using a lower ISO setting, but
as with most consumer models, these levels will become more
noticeable as the sensitivity is increased."

New Photoshop Tutorial - Replacing the Sky
This tutorial is to help you learn how to
replace the sky of one photo with the more interesting sky of
another photo. I have had many photos where the landscape
is very interesting but the sky is somewhat boring. With this
technique you can fix that problem by simply changing the sky.
For different photos, the process and amount of adjustment won't
be exactly the same. This technique can dramatically improve any
photo with a somewhat boring sky.

Olympus Stylus 710 Review at PC Magazine
PC Magazine wrote a review of the
Olympus Stylus 710
and said: "Resolution averaged 1,675 lines, which is great for a
7.1MP camera. Bootup time is a decent 2.8 seconds, but that is a lot
slower than the SD550's 1.6 seconds. The 3.7-second recycle time is
slow for an ultracompact, and nowhere near as fast as the SD550's
2.5 seconds. I found no pincushion distortion, and just a touch of
the usual barrel distortion. Unfortunately, there is noticeable
shutter lag."

New
Photoshop Tutorial - Water Motion Blur Effect
This
tutorial is to help you learn how to make a water motion blur
(slow shutter speed) effect on a photo that had a fast shutter
speed. Normally you would need a tripod to make this effect when
taking the picture, but with this technique you can simply add
the motion blur effect later. For different photos, you will
probably have to change the angle of the blur, and perhaps
adjust the intensity of the motion blur. But with this technique
you do not have to be a professional photographer to create
water motion shutter speed effects.
