The Essentials of a Good Landscape Photo

Landscape photography has the ability to take your viewers into another place without actually being there. Anybody can pick up a camera and take a photo of an interesting place, but it takes a careful and mindful photographer to take a landscape photo that is truly compelling. Most of the really impressive landscape photos that you will see have a few common elements. They have some type of foreground element, some type of framing element, and they all comply with the rule of thirds in some way or another.          Full Article

Pentax K100D Review at DC Resource

DC Resource wrote a review of the Pentax K100D and said: "Photo quality was excellent in most cases. The K100D took well-exposed photos with vivid colors and pleasing sharpness -- this camera is clearly aimed toward the consumer set. Noise levels are nice and low through ISO 800, and ISO 1600 is still usable, with ISO 3200 only for desperate situations. Purple fringing and redeye were not a problem. The 18 - 55 mm kit lens isn't the greatest, with noticeable vignetting in several of my real world photos. Remember: when it comes to lenses, you get what you pay for."

Article on How Digital Cameras Work and Collect Light

Drew Laughlin writes, "Digital cameras are basically the same as film cameras in their handling. They both have a lens to focus the specific image, a shutter to let light inside the camera, and an aperture to control the amount of light which enters the camera. The differences between digital and traditional photography happen to be after the light enters the camera. A traditional camera captures the images on film, while a digital camera captures the image on an image sensor."          Full Article

Nikon D80 Review at Ephotozine

ephotozine wrote a review of the Nikon D80 and said: "The D80 is a surprise because, on the surface, the specification is quite close to the D200 which Nikon market as an advanced amateur to professional level camera. However, when you take a longer look, there is still a considerable divide between the two and as you dig deeper you find that the D80 is a worthwhile upgrade from the, now, two and a half year old D70 (D70s upgrade is 16 months old) not least because of the 67% increase in the pixels count."         Full Article

Tips and Techniques on Printing Better Photos

TJ Tierney writes, "Before you print your images do a final check to make sure colours are perfect and that there are no marks on your image. Make sure that you have the right quality settings on your printer. Always use the best printing options available on your printer. If you are using heavyweight paper - load the paper one sheet at a time. This will avoid clogging. Once you are happy with your printing, allow your prints to rest for 24 hours, place a sheet of plain paper between each print when storing your images so that they do not get scratched."         Full Article
