Well known editorial and commercial photographer Joe McNally recently did a photo shoot with a very unique dance team. The Manhattan based Anti-Gravity dance troupe combines an eclectic assortment of dance style with acrobatics to form a high-energy show on course with Cirque du Soleil. As you can imagine, photographing such acts requires impeccable timing and precise lighting. Especially when you are working on the rooftop of a 20-story building with dancers leaping high into the air on stilts:
On this shoot, McNally rented the space he used. He also had to rent some of their gear, including multiple Profoto 7as. We also spotted at least one Elinchrome softbox. He shot primarily on a Nikon D3x, but the timelapse footage was done on a Nikon D7000.
