Most of us are too busy oogling at Levin’s landscape portraits to take the time to really think about the process behind the art. Brad Kremer, a filmmaker, was equally enchanted with Levin’s work, but when he was asked to join Levin on a trip to Japan, Kremer jumped at the chance to create a film that shared not just the beauty of Levin’s work, but also the dedication Michael Levin puts into creating every photograph. The short look into the life of the landscape photographer displays both Levin’s and Kremer’s exceptional skills behind a camera, have a look:
Kremer filmed the entire sequence using his Canon 5D Mark II with a Canon TS-E 90mm f/2.8 Tilt-Shift Lens and a Dynamic Perception dolly, but also employed the use of a steadicam for a few shots. The film was edited together using Final Cut Pro. Now that you’ve seen what Kremer is capable of, take a look at the following photos from Levin’s portfolio.
“I wanted to document Michael at work, in Japan, in a way that hasn’t really been explored with photographers. I told Michael of my idea to make an artistic representation of his experiences in the Land of the Rising Sun – to show him in his working environment in a way that complimented his work. Not to explain it with words, but to feel it through the flow of the film. I wanted to show the process, the journey, the adventure in a way that would give the viewer an emotional connection to Michael and his photography.”
