This is one determined little dog. Diving into a swimming pool to fetch its orange tennis ball, the dachshund is all in — eyes bulging, mouth open, paws reaching — that ball is his.
Part of photographer Seth Casteel‘s “Underwater Dogs” series, this photo is just one of many that captures the comical antics and expressions of our canine companions when they venture underwater.
On his website, Casteel explains how the series got started:
“I was photographing a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Buster in his backyard in California. The photo shoot was meant to be “on-land,” but Buster decided he would rather be in the pool. As I watched him dive in over and over again chasing his favorite mini tennis ball, I thought, “What does he look like under there!!” I left, bought a little point-and-shoot underwater camera, zipped back, and jumped in. The resulting photos were the beginning of the series of Underwater Dogs.”
He shoots with Canon cameras, Canon and Tokina lenses, and IKELITE Underwater Systems housings and strobes.
