It’s not every day you come across a heard of bison wandering along the highway in the early morning hours. But for those traveling through Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, this is a typical occurrence. A beautiful contrast between the natural inhabitants of the vast American landscape versus modern day interference. One photographer captured what he described as “morning traffic”:

The bison herds of Yellowstone National Park are considered one of the oldest and largest herds in the United States. In 2011 there were an estimated 3,700 bison roaming the plains, making it the only place left in the USA where free-ranging bison haven’t faced extirpation.
