Seeing old photos of past times and historic moments is always a bit of a trip. To see old buildings in their prime, pictures of people we only read about in history books, or past fashions and trends can be staggering. To see old war photos, soldiers long since gone, and awful portrayals of life in concentration camps is heartbreaking. Most of the time, the images are in black and white, but Colorized History has spent many hours restoring and adding color to some epic photos. The results are beautiful and chilling. There’s quite a bit of work that goes into colorizing an image, so thanks to all the people who take the time to do it. Although the black and white scale provides a grey value to help extrapolate the color, there’s still a lot of guesswork involved. For maximum accuracy, you’ve got to spend some time researching the subject and finding more recent color photos of the buildings, cities, and clothes—things that can still be found today.
