For most amateur photographers, “chimping” is really an issue. You know the drill: you take a couple of shots in five seconds, then spend the next minute hunched over your camera, inspecting every image and second-guessing every detail that can be fixed in post-processing. I’m probably more guilty of this than anyone, but it sure beats the results Evan Griffin‘s dad captured:
The video above, which has gone and gained more than four million views, shows an Irish dad on vacation in Las Vegas, casually recording the sights around him. The only problem is that he’s not pointing the camera at the sights around him, he’s pointing it at himself.
At the end of the day you don’t have to check every picture you take, especially if all you’re doing is saving some holiday memories, but it wouldn’t hurt to do a couple of tests beforehand or to download the photos to your computer in the evening.
It wasn’t all bad news. After posting the video online, GoPro’s marketing team got wind of it and got in touch with the original poster to send his dad some gifts. My guess is that he initially had a “standard” GoPro camera (which features no display) and one is coming to him now.
I hope you find this as amusing as I and millions of other viewers did.

That’s a pretty darn good composition for being completely uncomposed. And now he’s got a whole new angle on his vacation!
