Our planet is blessed with varied landscapes, many of which can leave us awestruck. These don’t only include the lush green or snow-covered landscapes—even some barren and rocky formations are beautiful enough to mesmerize us with their brilliance. Take for instance the following image by photographer Hansi. This image of Hanksville, Utah, is not much different from the barren landscapes of some other planets—and yet it is pretty amazing:
Hansi shot the image with a Sony A7RII and Sony 28-70mm lens at 28mm, f/10, 1/60th of a second at ISO 160. He took the image during sunrise, which is why we can see all those beautiful colors pop, especially on the horizon.
Besides those amazing colors, the landscape is doing a lot of the heavy lifting. The rugged and barren shapes are a pleasure to look at, thanks to their natural curves, lines and textures. Interestingly, there is no sign of anything living in the frame, which makes the scene feel like we’re looking into another planet. How cool is that?

This is outside Hanksville. Last time I was in Hanksville some locals came up on me from behind the on the highway and shot my drivers side window out! While I was driving! Just be warned the the locals are not so good.
