The sky has a magical quality — especially when photographers go all out to catch it in its best “light.” Mike Abramyan loves not only to shoot the inhabitants of the night sky clearly but also their nuance of colors. From violet to lime green, his astrophotography is packed full of rainbow tones and vibes.
Wavy aurora to multi-colored stars; he’s shot it all — including this unique image of his friend Arne and our home Galaxy. As if Aladdin in the cave holding up his lamp, he looks up in wonder at its gleaming treasures. Yes, including a heap of gemstone-toned stars studded in the night sky as far as the eye can see.

For this shoot, Mike headed out with his Sony A7IV mirrorless camera body and 24mm GM lens. In order to truly light up the Milky Way, a little extra time was needed — particularly in regards to shutter speed.
To be fair, this is just how it looks to a camera with very long exposure. This was about 18 minutes of exposure time for the sky!
When shooting, he set his camera to 15s, f/1.4, and ISO 640 for the foreground image. Then, 180s x 6, f/2.8, and ISO 640 for the sky. He also proceeded to process and stack the images in Astro Pixel Processor, Pixinsight, Photoshop, and Lightroom Classic.
