Dogs and beaches go together as much as a dog and his bone — but rarely produce the most coherent snaps! Besides splashing waves and biting wind, over-excited, unco-operative pups are the order of the day. As a pet photographer, Tasmania-based Daniel Towns wasn’t deterred when he took this stunning photo of his best friend, though.
A fantastic example of the rule of thirds; the subdued lighting and complementary steel blue and rust red shades only add to the appeal. The cherry on top has to be the splashing waves behind Ollie that Daniel managed to capture so perfectly, though.
For this shoot, Daniel packed his Sony A7R III and 24-70mm f2.8 lens, set to f4.0, 1/4000, and ISO 320. That said, he did have some issues with the lighting and post-production editing:
I still have a long way to go with my editing and did struggle with this one for quite a while due to harsh lighting…
