Inspired by the 1979 cult classic Mad Max, photographer Douglas Sonders drew elements from the post-apocalyptic film to stage a dramatic photo shoot. Against the desolate backdrop of the Mojave Desert, Sonders and his team created a whole other world with the help of elaborate props and costumes:
For his camera, Sonders chose a Phase One 645 DF+ body with a IQ140 back. Below, you can see some of his best pictures along with diagrams of how he lit each shot.
Douglas Sonders is a photographer and filmmaker born and raised in the Virginia suburbs just outside of Washington D.C. Graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2004 with an Advertising Photography degree.
