Have you ever wondered how to correctly pronounce the Japanese word bokeh? Different people pronounce it in different ways. They all seem to pronounce it with confidence, knowing that they sound perfect. But do they? This funny video from Photo Gear News is all about the different takes on the word—until Lok finally decides to find a Japanese speaker to pronounce it the authentic way:
Coming from Ryu Nagase of Canon, the pronunciation in the video must be authentic. But then, even Japanese people don’t pronounce it the same across the country.
In Tokyo, it sounds like bo-keh. But if you move east toward Kyoto, the pronunciation becomes bow-kayh.
