During a typical summertime thunderstorm, photographer Dan Piech captured a gigantic lightning strike over lower Manhattan’s Battery Park City extending all the way to Jersey City, New Jersey:
Having photographed boatloads of storms in the past, he grabbed his Canon 5DS and captured a substantial lightning strike that spanned the entire Hudson River. Using a single long exposure shot, Piech was able to snap one of the most amazing cloud-to-ground lightning strike photos to ever be caught on film. This awe-inspiring photo is aptly titled “The Hand of Zeus,” and it’s a testament to the beauty and power Mother Nature has over the earth.
