Landscape photography is not just about taking photos of gorgeous landscapes. The true beauty of any landscape shows itself only when it’s lit with an equally magical light. Being there at the right moment is a crucial part of the process. Landscape photographer Blake Randall was fortunate when he scouted this location for his photo of the Canadian Rockies:
To many, the photo might just appear like any regular photograph taken at the right moment. But it is in fact a panorama stitch of 10 shots. Moreover, Randall shot the sequence twice with different exposures to capture the high dynamic range in the scene.
The landscapes in the image are undoubtedly beautiful. The rocky mountains, snowy peaks and beautiful Lake O’Hara all gel together seamlessly. Moreover, the clouds and the light do the heavy lifting of taking the beauty of the landscape to the next level.
The way patches of light illuminate the mountains partially adds depth to the image. Then there are the dark clouds that look like they could bring in a downpour any time and change the entire mood.
If you look closely, you can even see Randall himself in the image. Once you find him, the scale is sure to blow your mind. It makes us realize how insignificant we are.
