This photo of the coastline on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia is amazing!
Landscape photographer Alex Wise is the small figure on the beach, and he took this high-altitude selfie using a DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone. His tiny figure gives a sense of scale to the shot, and the line of footprints in the sand lead the eye to him:
If photos of this quality can be taken with the drone’s built-in camera, it’s no surprise that more and more photographers are starting to see the benefit in using them.
Wise says he did make some adjustments to the hue/saturation in Photoshop, and he tweaked the yellow of the sand to make it more red by using a curves adjustment. He also clone stamped out the other footprints on the sand, leaving only his own.
I don’t think it matters if it was taken by a drone or a DSLR—it’s a great capture, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of Wise’s work.
