The best images in the world are sometimes hiding right under your nose. You just have to be able to see it to capture it. Take for instance this image, shot by photographer Thurein Kyaw, on Bourke Street Mall in Melbourne, Australia. On an ordinary day, it’s just a bench on a sidewalk. But the way he captured the bench makes it look like something else from a whole other world.
Kyaw shot the image with a Sony A6500 and Sigma 16mm lens at f/4.5, 1/60s and ISO 2000.
At first, it appears to be a light trail created by a vehicle, shot during a long exposure. They even look like neon lights. But in reality, it’s a regular bench reflecting all the beautiful lights around it.
Thanks to the reflection of the lights, an otherwise dull bench appears vibrant and eye-catching. It is also worth noting how the bench, the flag pole at its end and the rear of the bus line up so perfectly. It is just so satisfying to see. Kyaw’s patience and his eye for unique perspectives has truly paid off.
What are your thoughts on this picture? Did you realize at first that it was a bench? We’d love to read about your thoughts.
