Al Hamra in Oman is a 400-year-old town where you can find some of the oldest preserved houses in the country. The place is also completely abandoned and you can wander through the crumbling building, old doors, and dusty pathways. Photographer TJ Drysdale took the following image of his girlfriend in one of the abandoned alleys there and it perfectly captures the vibe of the place:

If you look closely at the image, you can see that there are a lot of fascinating things about it. The old structures made of stones and mud give a true representation of the abandoned structures. Then there are the old and torn curtains on the doors that add to the details and emphasize the feeling of abandonment.
The photographer has also done an excellent job when it comes to placing the subject. He’s placed her right at the center, framed by the arches that help in drawing the attention right to her. It also helps that the subject’s robe contrasts beautifully with the surroundings. This makes her stand out from the rest of the photograph in a way that is stunning.
Appreciating this photograph would not be complete without mentioning the lighting. The highlights on the top of this image add such a mystical vibe to the image and make it feel complete. It’s as if there’s some magical story behind the photograph.

To my eye the subject is just to the right and above absolute center. I agree that this is excellent work and feel that placement just off-center adds a slightly dynamic aspect to what could have been a too static and easy placement.
