As photographers, you cannot simply show up somewhere and expect to take brilliant photos. This is all the more true for landscape photographers, because when you’re working with nature, you have almost no control. Planning is crucial. Consider the following image taken by photographer Ryan Fitzsimons as an example. He shot it at Livermore, California; if you know the weather out there, these hills only look like this for about a week. He was there at exactly the right time to capture this mesmerizing photograph.
Fitzsimons shot the image with a Nikon D850 and a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. While the scenery and the lighting are all perfect, another thing to cherish about this image is the rarity of the conditions it was shot in.
“For a brief moment every most year, the pond is full of water while the hills are green.”
Greenery in the Livermore hills area lasts for only about a week, and the same is true for water filling this pond. For the rest of the year, the landscape turns brown and the water dries up. The photographer had to be in the right place at the right time to capture this beauty of an image.
Besides the mesmerizing greenery, the colors in the sky add to the overall beauty. The setting sun paints the sky with all possible colors and the reflections in the pond beautifully complete the image.
Wouldn’t you love to experience such an enthralling sunset?
