Central Park: the green heart of Manhattan island. Everybody knows it, every movie, TV show or music video shot in New York, somehow, refer to it. But have you ever seen it plainly and fully admired it as it is? Probably not yet, but take a look at today’s”interesting photo of the day”, as it depicts the grandeur, greatness and the magnificence of Manhattan’s beloved and iconic public park:
Central Park was designed by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted and British architect Calvert Vaux, who won a design competition back in 1858 to improve and expand the park itself. It has now 843 acres (one of world’s largest urban public parks, did you know it can clearly be seen in satellite photos) and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1962.
