A very common misconception that most of us have is that simple images do not stand out. Whereas, in fact, when done right, even a simple image can be highly impactful. Take for instance the following image that was shot by photographer Thomas Bartelds in the grasslands of Namibia. On surface, there doesn’t seem to be too much going on. But still, we can draw a lot of inspiration from it:
Bartelds shot the image using a 200-500mm f/5.6 lens at 500mm in Etosha, Namibia. Thanks to the beautiful background compression and the shallow depth of field resulting from the long focal length, the image has a unique character to it.
If there’s one word that can explain the feeling in the image, it’d definitely be “calming”. It’s lovely to see how delicate the image appears to be; you can almost feel the wind. The soft look of the image even makes the image appear like a painting.
Moreover, even the color of the grass appears to be so delicate which further adds to the calming nature of the image.
