Life is known for throwing us curve balls. The smartest and strongest thing we can do is to get creative and make the best of it. Blushing bride Shelby Swink was left by her fiancee just days before their wedding date. Instead of wallowing in self pity, Swink decided to have some fun with family and friends and trash her wedding dress. Here are the colorful and celebratory results:
Most wedding photographers request a non-refundable down payment for all sessions booked. Instead of letting the session go to waste, Swink agreed to the creative suggestion made by the wedding photographer: a trash the dress session on the day of the wedding.
“November 1 was supposed to be a fun and happy day surrounded by friends and family who loved me. I decided that I would not let my ex-fiancé’s mistake of letting me go take that away from me.”
Attendees happily covered each other in multicolored paint and craft feathers, making for some vibrant photographs and bitter-sweet memories.
Swink not only made the best of what could have been a treacherous day, but she got inventive with the ruined dress. It was put on display at a bridal shop and helped to collect donations for a local nonprofit ‘Be Free Revolution.’
