Sometimes, words simply aren’t enough. We’ve seen some breathtaking timelapse videos. We’ve been wowed at the almost magical capture of light and composition. This one by Chris Pritchard is truly sublime:
Pritchard captured the images that make up his film, Skylight, over five and a half years. The oldest images date from June 2011 and the latest from as recent as January of 2016. The beautiful timelapse is a collection of some of the most dramatic sky shows—whims of nature in light and shadow—that you’ll ever come across. Less than four minutes of video encompasses 36 hours of footage.
Pritchard photographed over 42 unique locations around the globe. Some of them included Los Angeles, Tokyo, North Island of New Zealand, Owens Valley, Death Valley, Yosemite, the Mojave Desert, and Western Illinois.
“Shooting timelapse has taught me to sit back and take in the world around me. After six years and thousands of shots captured, I’ve seen some special and memorable events in our skies. No matter how dramatic the location, the sky holds the power to make a good view great, and to mesmerize us with the wonders of the world – within our atmosphere and beyond.”
