In his latest timelapse project, “Angel City,” photographer and filmmaker Gavin Heffernan has captured the grit and speed of life in Los Angeles, taking advantage of the illumination of a supermoon to capture some well-lit night shots:
“The light of the latest ‘Supermoon’ provided incredible extra definition in the darks of the city panoramas, while also giving some great separation to the skyscrapers.”
The timelapse features LA landmarks like the Hollywood sign, the Griffith Observatory, and the Paramount Pictures studio.
Heffernan was inspired by the cityscapes featured in the 1995 film Heat and even used a song from the movie’s soundtrack as the background music for the video.
He used a Canon 6D camera and Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM II lens to shoot the timelapse sequence.
